Cedar by the Sea
Overview
Cedar by the Sea is a beautiful mid-century beach house set high in the treetops of Normanville. Just minutes from the beach, it feels quietly tucked away in nature - surrounded by greenery, open sky, and sweeping views through the canopy out to the horizon. The sunsets here are something you naturally pause for… soft, golden, and best taken slowly.
About This Stay
Upstairs is the heart of the home. An open-plan living, dining and kitchen space sits above the trees and flows straight out onto an elevated deck looking toward the ocean. It’s a calm, easy space - made for slow mornings, long meals, and evenings that naturally stretch into sunset without trying.
Downstairs is where everything softens further. All four bedrooms are on this level, creating a quiet, grounded retreat away from the shared living space. Two front rooms open directly onto a wide deck overlooking lush, established gardens that feel private and deeply held. It’s green, still, and restorative - a true escape within the escape.
Outside is where Cedar really comes into its own.
A heated plunge pool sits quietly in the garden, at an enjoyable 30 degrees all year round. A firepit invites long evenings under the stars. And the space naturally opens up for everyone in their own way - kids moving freely between the playground, cubby house, monkey bars and mud kitchen, while adults ease into the slower rhythm the property creates without effort.
After a morning at Normanville Beach, the outdoor shower and sauna become part of the ritual - simple, grounding moments that make the day feel complete in the best way.
The home sleeps families, groups of friends, couples, and dog-friendly stays - with space to gather, unwind, and fully switch off. The four bedrooms include a king master with ensuite, two queen rooms, and a fourth room with a queen plus single bunk. A second bathroom and separate laundry downstairs make longer stays easy and comfortable.
Cedar by the Sea is more than a house - it’s a backdrop for memories, laughter, and sunsets that linger long after you’ve gone.

The Neighbourhood
Cedar by the Sea is tucked into the treetops of Normanville, on the beautiful Fleurieu coastline — a relaxed seaside pocket known for long beaches, rolling hills, and an easy coastal rhythm.
Just minutes away is Normanville Beach, a wide, swimmable stretch of sand perfect for slow mornings, beach walks, and long summer days. At low tide, the nearby rock pools around Lady Bay and Carrickalinga become a favourite for exploring — calm, sheltered pockets where the coastline reveals a quieter, more playful side.
The town itself is small, welcoming, and full of easy local rituals. Grab fresh sourdough and a coffee from the local bakery for something quick and simple, or head to Little Sister Normanville — a soulful café known for homemade dishes, local produce, and that slow, grounded kind of dining that makes you want to linger a little longer.
The Normanville Surf Life Saving Club sits right on the beach and is a go-to for casual meals with an uninterrupted view of the ocean — especially at sunset when everything softens into gold.
For something more laid back again, Fork Tree Brewing is just up the road — open, easy, and the kind of place that feels instantly unpretentious. Nearby, Fleurieu Gin offers small-batch spirits in a setting that feels true to the region — relaxed, thoughtful, and quietly special.
You’ll also find a local surf shop in town for all your beach essentials, along with an IGA that makes stocking up simple and stress-free, so you can arrive and settle straight into holiday mode.
Beyond Normanville, the wider Fleurieu Peninsula opens into rolling vineyards, cellar doors, and scenic coastal drives through towns like Yankalilla and beyond — all easy to explore, though many guests find they don’t feel the need to leave too often.
But most don’t. Everything you need is already here, and the rest just adds to it.
It’s a place where nature leads, days soften, and everything feels a little more effortless than it does at home.
Getting Around
It is great to have a car to explore this gorgeous region and all the Fleurieu has to offer! Normanville main road is just a 200 metre walk away, with great coffee, takeaway and eateries, bakery and foodland.
